Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts
Information about Glastonbury Festival 2019
Glastonbury Festival is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world and has been running since 1970.
How close is Old Oaks campsite to Glastonbury Festival?
Contrary to it's name, Glastonbury Festival is held, not in the town of Glastonbury, but 6 miles away, at Worthy Farm in Pilton, off the A361.
How will I get to the festival if I'm staying at Old Oaks? Book transport
Especially for you lucky people with a golden ticket, we've organised a small coach for guests who wish to enjoy all the wonders of the festival by day, but prefer to escape to some peace and quiet each night. There are 29 seats available, from Thurs to Sunday. Full details can be found here.
Also there are special Glastonbury festival shuttle buses which run between the bus station in the centre of Glastonbury (approx 3 miles from Old Oaks) and the festival site several times a day. Please check full details on the official Glastonbury Festival website for up to date information or email office@glastonburyfestivals.co.uk.
What about increased traffic?
The official 2019 festival dates are Wed 26th June to Sun 30th June. Based on previous years, our advice is to avoid the A39 and A361 roads on days before and after the festival. Therefore, our advice is not to travel on these roads on Wed 26th and Mon 1st July (mass exodus).
Will it be noisy?
The festival site is 6 miles from The Old Oaks. Whilst we cannot guarantee or offer promises of no noise, many of our guests report no disturbance in previous years.
Can I stay for one night before or after the festival?
During the festival period (and throughout July & Aug), we have a 3 night minimum stay restriction which means we are unable to accommodate one nighters.
Will local roads be affected during the festival?
Even on the days preceding and following the festival, it is possible to use the back roads and lanes to get into Glastonbury town and to other places, although you may prefer to leave the car on site on those days, just to be sure. During the time the festival takes place (26th to 30th June), there should be no problems moving around the area. In fact, if anything, Glastonbury town will be experiencing one of it's quietest times of the year as everyone is at the festival.
